I’m sure you’ve all stopped at least once to read their convincing advertisements on corkboards and poles… I mean, I certainly did. The flyers for The Love Gurus all around campus include the two students, one wearing an faux (though still impressive) mustache and the other giving a Ben Stiller “blue steel-esque” look. These are the guys that give out the relationship, love, and sex advice we’ve been searching for with a hilarious twist. The show, featured on the University of Vermont’s UVMtv, is fairly new however has much potential to be another one of UVM’s popular comedic resources. In fact, the most recent show started off with a contest where the winner would win twenty minutes with co-host, Daniel Tyler. To participate, viewers had to text in a guess of the amount of freckles on Dan Tyler’s body…need I say more?

The show originated with UVM senior and producer, Alex Nenopolous, and was extended out to UVM sophomores and current show hosts, Daniel Tyler and Jack Steele. Currently the program is sponsored by UPS and mostly relies on the team devoting their free time and laughter to keep the entertainment rolling. They define the show as a place where students can anonymously talk about the things that are on the minds of college students every day. Giving a “phresh with a ph” feel, as Steele explains, they are able to relate to common situations and give advice with a little humor dished out on the side.

However its not only the interesting idea of the program – two great, goofy kids talking about a little lovin’, that makes it great to watch. Its also the zest and strong personality that the cast and crew give off to create an extremely comfortable and fun environment. Nenopolous describes Steele as a kid with just the right filter who “improvises very well.” Having grown up around the filming industry in New York, Steele explains that he was raised to be proactive and outgoing.” Steele adds that Tyler’s outgoing personality and constant flow of crazy, yet great ideas keeps things interesting. His catch phrase – “Do you ever think that you could (fill in the blank)?” And where would a show be without its producer? As the show ran on and I continued to be amused while the producer along with his assistants remained on task. They kept their focus to keep the show going and keep the co-hosts looking sassy and suave. Steele and Tyler explain that Nenopolous is “always on top of his game” and is good at what he does.

The perfect combination of humor, spice and everything nice sets up a good outlook for the show. They explain that their main goal for the future is to have more and more segments and increase viewership. With great support from friends and current fans, the material being covered maintains its witty charm. However the team hopes for more feedback from anonymous viewers. And if you’re in a rut with your boyfriend or girlfriend, come on down to the show! The cast plans to put more actual couples on the show and increase hilarious dating show segments. I couldn’t even keep my laughter to myself during filming with the game show contestant responses.
