It’s that time of the year again. Love is officially in the air. Equally as important as celebrating romantic love in our lives is taking a day to celebrate all of our greatest friendships. Galentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to get together with your best gal pals and celebrate each other. In the spirit of the season, I have curated the ultimate guide to celebrating the perfect Galentine’s Day. Here I share with you how you can shower your besties with love this holiday.
Leslie Knope, played by Amy Poehler, brought the idea to life in a 2010 episode of Parks and Recreation where she described what February 13 is truly all about: “Ladies celebrating ladies. It’s like Lilith Fair, minus the angst. Plus, frittatas.”
Write love letters to each other
Our friends are the ones who are there for us through thick and thin. Making cheesy, heartfelt cards is a great way to remind your gals how much they mean to you and a fun activity for a girls night!
Give back to others
Volunteering together is a great way to spread love this February. Whether it’s offering a hand at the local soup kitchen or donating blood together, giving back is an excellent way to connect with your friends while making a positive impact on the community.
Mani-pedis
There’s nothing more relaxing than a spa day with your friends. There is just something about getting a mani-pedi that has you leaving the salon feeling extra posh. We all need a little pampering every once in a while, so why not do it with your girlfriends?
Rom-coms
Galentine’s Day isn’t Galentine’s Day without watching a rom-com. Some of my favorites are When Harry Met Sally, Clueless, 10 Things I Hate About You, 13 Going on 30, and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.
Wine, cheese, and chocolate
There is something about Galentine’s Day that calls for a charcuterie board. You don’t need any fancy equipment to make a gorgeous spread. Stop by the store, pick up some of your favorite cheese and wine, and indulge together.
Whether you are in a relationship or not this year, Galentine’s Day is a reminder that you are not alone. P.S. Make sure to show yourself some love this V-Day. You deserve it!
