Every year during finals, I get caught up in studying and stressing out about the percentage of my final grade that the exam is worth. It is important to remember these few things during finals week:
Sleep: Even though you don’t have classes, it’s important to get a good amount of sleep during the night. If you have a 9 a.m. exam, get up at the same time you would before the exam for at least two days beforehand, so your body can get used to the time.
Exercise: Exercise is an excellent stress reliever. Whether you go to the AFC, go for a jog, or even walk to Starbucks rather than taking the bus, get outside and get moving. Sometimes I even find myself thinking and reviewing for exams in my head while running.
Find a comfortable study spot: Believe it or not, libraries are not the best study space for everyone. While you may think otherwise because of the lack of available table space in Clemons and Alderman during exams, the library may not be the best place for you. I personally like to study in my room, so I can make noise if I need to, or take breaks if I need to, and without the distractions of others around me. Consider taking in the gorgeous weather and studying on the Lawn, or on the South Lawn Commons between Nau and Gibson.
Treat yourself: Exams are the final push between you and the sweet summertime. Try not to allow yourself to get too stressed out. Take study breaks, watch a movie or a show on Netflix, have your favorite snack, or get lunch on the Corner. Monitor this free time, of course, but allow yourself to do things that make you happy.
