Since the invention of lip gloss in 1930, different shades and styles have come in and out of fashion throughout the years. Now that the matte liquid lipstick fad has cooled down (thank God — they are so drying!) glossy, plump lips are back in fashion, somewhat reminiscent of the early 2000’s makeup style, though with a lot less sparkle! In the era of BBL’s and lip fillers, consumers want more than some shine in a lip gloss: they want a plumping effect. I, myself, am a plumping lip gloss connoisseur, and I tried the best plumping lip glosses and ranked my top three in degree of plumping: Mega Plump, Substantial Pump, and Subtle Plump.
Mega plump
The best plumping gloss I’ve encountered is the Too Faced Lip Injection Power Plumping Lip Gloss. True to its name, it delivers a massive plumping effect with great pigment! This gloss stays on all night, and is a go-to for a girls’ night out. My favorite shade is Pretty Pony. Beware, it does have a strong tingling (borderline burning) sensation, so maybe don’t wear this one on date night. Unless you want your partners’ lips to plump up too!
Substantial plump
The best lip gloss for a good plump is the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Bath Gloss. It has a mild, minty feel on the lips and is super hydrating! I love these for everyday wear as they are high-shine in beautiful shades. The Refresh Rose gloss is my favorite gloss for class, as it is a light sparkly pink. If you want a plumping gloss that feels like lip balm, this is the perfect choice.

Subtle plump
My favorite gloss for a subtle plump is the Too Faced Hangover Pillow Balm Lip Treatment. Infused with fruit oils, coconut water, and plumping hyaluronic acid, the formula lightly plumps while hydrating. I love this gloss because it has great shine and pigment, delivering more benefits than a typical lip treatment or lip balm might. Plus, the fruit-named line of glosses are scented, creating fruity kiss potential! My favorite shade is Watermelon Kiss.
