How to Spend a Very Fall-like Sunday

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UVA chapter.

There are only a few fall Sundays left, so it’s time to get down to business and make the most of them. While this list I’ve curated is basic, it can provide a window into the fall vibes you’ve been dreaming of. Let’s get planning:

  1. Light a fall candle right when you wake up. This has become one of my favorite rituals to do every morning to bring that aromatic fall feeling into my space. There’s absolutely nothing quite like a cozy fall morning and there’s nothing like a cozy candle to get you into that mode. It can be super tough to get up on cold mornings, but the excitement to burn my favorite candle always gives me some motivation. Anthropologie has great ones, namely the Pumpkin Soufflé candle, and there are also awesome ones you can find at CVS  for cheaper. I recently got a Maple Pancakes one that makes my room smell like the best brunch spread ever.
  2. Go to Starbucks and get a fall drink. Next stop is Starbucks. I love the nostalgic feeling of getting a drink from the drive-thru and we all know that Starbucks is especially special during the fall season. My recent favorite order has been a Venti Iced Almond Milk Latte, 2 pumps of sugar-free vanilla, and pumpkin cream cold foam.
  3. Go to the farmers’ market. There’s nothing more adorable than hitting a farmers market on a Sunday alongside families. They always have fresh local produce, and you could probably get some amazing fall pastries as well. Don’t cheap out on the apple cider donuts, and try some in-season produce items like blackberries, broccoli, brussels sprouts, or grapes.
  4. Take a walk downtown. A Charlottesville special fall activity is taking a stroll downtown, maybe picking up another latte, and grabbing some sweaters you don’t need in the boutiques down there. Also, the bookstores down there will provide the perfect books for a cozy fall night in.
  5. Make chili. As temperatures drop, it’s all about cooked and warming foods. Not only does this provide some immune benefits, but chili, specifically, has so many recipe variations, with different protein, spice,  and add-in options. Extra points if you throw on a football game while you watch it.
  6. Host a potluck at your apartment with your friends. There’s nothing like a dinner party, with some lit candles, fall place mats, string lights, and jazz music as a way to spend some time with your pals.
  7. Watch a Halloween movie. I’m sure you were expecting this one, but the last and crucial step is throwing on a classic Halloween movie with some seasonal cookies, maybe a pumpkin loaf, and some lit jack-o-lanterns.

Don’t get bogged down or overwhelmed by the sheer volume of amazing fall activities available to take part in. Get started this coming Sunday with this list and you’ll be sure to have the right seasonal schedule.
