Easy Christmas Decorations for Your Dorm Room

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UVA chapter.

One of the things I miss most about being home during the holidays is being constantly surrounded by Christmas decorations. Like a Christmas tree donned with ornaments, stockings embroidered with the names of my family members, and of course images of Santa and reindeers everywhere. Being at college, we only get to see these things for the few days before Christmas when we go home. But with these easy Christmas decorations you can easily give your dorm room or suite that homey feel that we all love so much.

Mini Christmas Tree

A mini Christmas tree adds Christmas cheer to any space. You can get a 4’ artificial Christmas tree for only $12.00 on Amazon.

DIY Christmas Ornaments

Dress up plain ornaments with glitter, glue, ribbon, and stickers.

These cute Christmas tree ornaments can be made with just ribbon and paper. Full instructions can be found here.

Paper Snowflakes

Paper snowflakes are a holiday classic, and you have probably been making these since you were a kid. Making paper snowflakes with your roommate or hall is a great way to bond and reminisce your childhood days.

Learn how to make them here.

Gingerbread House

Building a gingerbread house is another fun group activity. Gingerbread house kits are usually available in many stores but you can order this DIY kit online.

Decorate Your Door

Your holiday decorations don’t have to be limited to inside, decorate your door and spread your holiday spirit with everyone that walks by it. Use this opportunity to show your creativity!
