Day to Night Looks

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UVA chapter.

As much as I love UVA, I’ll be the first person to say that it can be incredibly stressful. The typical day usually entails attending three classes, finishing assignments that were probably due that day, sending emails,  and attending meetings.  With all those stressors, it is perfectly natural that UVA students would want to go out and have some mindless fun after a day of using far too many brain cells. However, because we do so much, there’s no time to get ready! Everyone’s had those nights where they go straight from Clemons to Rugby (or is that just me?). Anyways, here are some tips and suggestions for how to get ready fast and transition perfectly from day to night to make your day a little less stressful.

  1. Dry Shampoo:
I swear by this stuff. Since I have blonde hair, grease shows up like none other if I can’t re-shower before going out. In a time crunch, this is great! Of all the brands I’ve tried, this is the best (and it even works on brunettes!) and it doesn’t hurt that it’s cheap. I’ve definitely read of some people hating on this product, but I love it!

 2. Blazer:
A good black blazer is a must! I have found myself going to meetings on Thursday nights right before going          out, and a blazer is the perfect compromise between day and night style. It is definitely appropriate for a              school setting, and when matched with a cute top underneath and some jewelry, it becomes the perfect, and       classy, going out look.

3. Oil blotting sheets: Another essential if you have no time to shower! These are great if you just want to touch up your face makeup quickly before going out. I like these Clean&Clear ones.

4. Glittery eyeshadow: If you’re going out straight from class or a meeting, the only thing that really separates going out makeup from regular makeup is eyeshadow! It is an easy step that transforms your look. I love L’oreal HIP eyeshadow in Bustling.

5.  Another good tip: wear your fratcket (frat jacket) to class for an easy transition later.

6.  And finally, my drug of choice: okay, I admit it, everyone makes fun of me for this one BUT I always carry a mini-brush. When you’re in a hurry or on the go, nothing fixes your hair better than a quick brush through.

With these tips, a busy UVA girl can do it all – be responsible about commitments while still looking good on a night out!
