Official Press Release:
4th Year UVA Student Miles Morin Paints the Rotunda to Save the Rotunda

UVA students and alumni can now give back to the University simply by hanging a painting on their walls.
4th year College student Miles Morin is spearheading a fundraising initiative to benefit the Rotunda Restoration Fund. He has teamed with fellow students Jack Aspinwall, Liza Yermakova, and Quinton Clemm, as well as University officials, to raise money and awareness for the cause by selling high quality canvas prints of his original Rotunda oil painting.

“UVA has given me so much over the past four years, and I feel called to do what I can to make sure that the Rotunda, the icon of the University, can be enjoyed as a beautiful historic landmark for generations to come.”
Miles Morin is a double major in Economics and Religious Studies from Virginia Beach, VA. He began painting during the summer between first and second year, and has developed a style heavily influenced by the French impressionists and California plein air painters.

His latest work, a 20” x 25” oil painting of the Rotunda, uses subtle contrasts in light and shadow to capture the warmth of a mid-summer’s afternoon on the lawn. A total of 400 Limited Edition, signed and numbered prints are available for purchase.

Miles and his team have built a website, www.RotundaPainting.com, to reach out to UVA students, alumni, and community members who share their desire to see the Rotunda maintain its historic grandeur.

“The cool thing is, now that our website is fully functional, everyone in the UVA community, whether in Charlottesville, New York, or Los Angeles, can share in giving back to their school, and come away with a great canvas painting to remind them of their time at the University.”
