Monday, November 4th, Alex & Ani will be hosting a Her Campus night from 6-8 pm featuring 10% off for Her Campus readers! The store, originally begun in Rhode Island, just opened a location in the Stonefield Mall.

While perhaps not a well-known brand (yet) here, being from Boston I have loved Alex & Ani bracelets for years. My collection began with some generic bangles, and quickly expanded to include personalized and heart-felt charms. For example, I own a Boston charm bracelet (my hometown, pretty self-explanatory), and also a lobster charm. In addition to being a very New England symbol, the lobster represents regeneration and protection. Online, it explains that the lobster is associated with the cycles of the moon and ebb and flow of the tides. Wearing the lobster helps with letting go of the past, going with the flow and protecting yourself against life’s challenges. These explanations can be found both online and instore.

Collections that Alex & Ani carry include sororities, sports teams, and colleges. Recently they have begun to offer a UVA charm, which is very exciting. In addition to these self-explanatory categories, they feature categories such as Charity by Design. In this collection, Alex & Ani has partnered with different charities to design a charm that represents their charity, and part of the proceeds of the bracelet go towards their cause. Some of the charities represented are the Nancy David Foundation, Living Water and many others.

Alex & Ani also offers necklaces, earrings and rings though my favorites will always be the classic bangles. Offered in both silver and gold, they are great to mix and match and can make great presents. Make sure to stop by Alex & Ani’s new store location on November 4th for some great jewelry and a fantastic discount provided by Her Campus!
