10 Realities When You Live in a House with Your 7 Best Friends

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UVA chapter.

Housing can be stressful, but nothing is better than coming home to a group of great people. Here are some truths about what it’s like living in a house with 7 of your best friends.

1.     A “night in” means staying up until 3am talking about anything and everything.

Politics? Religion? Your strangest sexual encounter? Everything’s game.

2.     When one person gets sick, everyone gets sick

Doesn’t matter how many Lysol wipes you use, one person with a cold turns into an epidemic.

3.     When one person succeeds, everyone succeeds.

We got a job! We asked our crush out! We aced our Bio exam!

4.     When one person is hurting, you have seven people to move mountains for you.

And seven shoulders to cry on.

5.     If your alarm fails you, you have 7 other people to wake you up.

Whether it’s on purpose, or people slamming doors on their way to class.

6.     If you want to be productive, you DO NOT go home.

You will inevitably distract each other with some silly gossip or random YouTube video.

7.     8 people means 8 closets.

You’ll never have to buy something for a themed party ever again.

8.     You always have someone to walk to class with.

Or go with to a coffee shop to study.

9.     And you always have someone to walk home with.

And to grab dinner with you on your way.

10.    You never feel alone.

While it can be hectic and sometimes overwhelming, it’s comforting to know that when you need anything, someone will always be there.
