Thigh high boots have been a staple in so many of our wardrobes every time the winter season comes around. Whether its a classic black suede, or a colorful option, odds are you have a pair in your closet. But in this age of fashion, are they still on-trend? If you’re tired of the same sweater dress and thigh high holiday combo, let me introduce you to your new go-to boot, the knee highs.

Knee high boots have become extremely popular this season, and have begun to replace the old trends of over-the-knee boots. In the past, thigh highs have been styled in a number of ways, but the most notable pairings are sweater dresses, leggings and a chunky scarf, or something along those lines.

The rise of the knee high height has opened the doors to a more chic and elevated style. Originally, we saw them under midi skirts or dresses, but this season they’ve been on full display. Everyone from designers, celebrities, influencers, and the everyday fashionistas are hoping on this trend.

Lifetstyle and fashion influencer, Danielle Carolan, styles an all black outfit in New York with her boots subtly peaking out of her skirt slit.

Black leather has been the most popular to style. It pretty much goes with anything. From a sexy peak out of a skirt slit, to a simple belted blazer, they elevate the look in a way a thigh high wishes it could.

Celebrity Hailey Bieber styles her rhinestone knee high boots with an oversized blazer in a photo by Tyrell Hampton.

They don’t always have to be a staple piece however. Hailey Bieber proves that this trend comes in all shapes and styles, or should we say, sparkles.

Influencer Emma Top styles a pair of white boots with red hearts with a simple red hoodie.

For a more subtle pop, knee high boots can be found in a number of colors and patterns. This pair from Dollskill, featured on Emma’s instagram, lean more on the gogo boot side, but still a knee high nonetheless.

It seems that we’re finally leaving the suede thigh-highs in the back of our closets, and replacing them with this modern and chic alternative. Its unclear if these boots will stick around past the winter months, so be sure to hop on the trend before the season ends!
