To Mac Miller’s fans:

I bet you’re all wondering when this life simulation is over, right?

Life has not felt right as of lately, and I might know why. I understand that this is a touchy subject right now, especially if you’ve been listening to Mac miller album, after EP, after mixtape, after album on repeat.

Malcolm McCormick, aka Mac Miller, ‘but don’t call him Malcolm if you didn’t know him then’, abruptly left this earth on September 7, 2018 at the young age of 26. A tragic loss for his family, friends, fans and the music industry. We lost a beautiful, creative and unique soul that many resonated with deeply. I still cannot grasp the thought of never getting another project out of him.

Mac wasn’t just another artist, he was a huge part of my generation and someone so many people could relate to. From jamming out with all of your closest friends on senior skip day, listening to “Senior Skip Day” on repeat, to enjoying a sunny day to “Best Day Ever”, the list goes on… his music brought us together as a community during what some would consider the hardest time of a teenagers life, high school.

If you think about it, a lot of us truly grew up with this man, and had his music with us along the way. His music has and will continue to be there for those going through what feels like the hardest time of their life.

His music was an open book of his deepest and most vulnerable thoughts. He had a way of making you feel human. He had a way of making sure you knew you were loved. He always saw the sunshine in the darkness, no matter how dark it may have felt. There aren’t enough words to describe him or the impact his life has made on the world — his energy truly radiates.

Every time I listened to his latest drop I felt like I was catching up with him, and finding out what’s going on inside of that crazy, talented head of his. He was so down to earth and it really showed in his music. Listening to a Mac song can make you feel like he is in your head and understands you in ways you didn’t know were possible. Mac Miller will live on forever through his music and in the hearts of those who love him dearly.

For the fandom this is a tragic loss and I want all of you to know that we have his music and each other during this devastating time. I hope that you will continue to confide in his music and never stop listening, no matter how hard it may be at times. Carry on his legacy and make the most of your life. Live life to the fullest while you can, because that’s exactly what he would want us to be doing.

Thank you Mac, for being the soundtrack to my life.
