So in case no one’s told you yet: It’s not too late for you.

Want to change your major? Want to double major? Want to transfer?

Want to break up with your boyfriend? Your girlfriend? Your fiancé?

Maybe you thought you’d have it all figured out by now━and in case you missed my last article, I’ll say this again: embrace the uncertainty and the opportunity that comes with it. Even without the clarity you thought you would have by now, just know that this is a lifelong journey that you’re on, and no matter how much time has passed, it is still not too late for you.

There is so much more to this life, so you can change your mind and then change it again. You can━and will━make mistakes, and that’s okay because you have so much time and so many different paths you can choose for yourself.

It’s not a 50-meter dash, it’s not a sprint. It’s a lifelong journey, and going the fastest doesn’t necessarily mean you’re going to win. The real winners are the ones that make stops along the way, looking at the landmarks, the ones that don’t always pay attention to the map and get turned around along the way. The real winners are the ones that take their time to figure out which way works best for them. However, the real winners are also the sprinters━the straight shooters━the path followers.

Everyone’s journey is going to be different and everyone’s map is going to look different (whether they use it or not), so go at your own pace, create your own path or follow that which is already paved. But know this: You have so much time on your journey through this thing we call Life, and it will never be too late for you.

Sydney's a lover of YA fiction, especially dystopian series, and she can often be found around campus, with earphones in, listening to an audiobook. As someone that is forever getting lost in books, she thought it was time to share her own stories and opinions.
Lauren is currently a senior at UTSA who is obsessed with anything involving music and pop culture. She is one of the Campus Correspondents for HC UTSA, and is in charge of social media and editing. You can catch her traveling across the country for concerts, eating Whataburger fries, or constantly scrolling through her social media feeds.
