5 Fall Drinks To Order At Starbucks If You Hate PSLs

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UTSA chapter.

If you’re like me, the idea of cozying up with a Starbucks pumpkin spice latte in the fall sounds adorable, and duh, so Tumblr. The reality though is a disgusting coffee that shatters your dreams of ever being a Pinterest mom to smithereens. I’ve tried every year to like the infamous PSL, whether it be hot or cold, and I just can’t force myself to like it. And frankly, I’m over it. So, I’m here to save my fellow PSL haters, or just give some variety to your daily Starbucks trips.

Cinnamon Dolce Latte

The cinnamon dolce latte is steamed milk and flavored syrup mixed with espresso, topped with whipped cream and cinnamon. Cinnamon is a BIG fall flavor and a personal favorite of mine. If you like sweet and creamy coffee, this drink is for you.

Caramel Macchiato

A caramel macchiato is also steamed milk but with vanilla syrup, mixed with espresso and topped with caramel drizzle. This is my go-to drink for all seasons, but there’s something about caramel gets everyone in the fall mood. Again, a pretty sweet choice, but the espresso adds a nice bitterness for any coffee-lover.

Caramel Apple Spice

This one is for all my coffee-haters. Essentially, its apple cider with whipped cream and caramel drizzle. I feel like this is the perfect drink to mozy around the pumpkin patch with your girlfriends, or just to sip on while you’re snuggled up in bed with a good book.

Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew

This is a new drink, a play off of the typical PSL but more like it’s trendy sister. This is a classic cold brew with vanilla syrup, topped with pumpkin cream cold foam, and dusted with pumpkin spice. I was wary to try this because of how similar it sounds to the pumpkin spice latte. However, after all of the raving reviews it was getting from my friends, I decided to try it. I was happily surprised to discover it was pretty good. Essentially, it tastes exactly like a regular sweet cream cold brew, but with a subtle hint of pumpkin, making it the perfect drink for a wannabe PSL drinker. Plus it’s so aesthetically pleasing your Instagram will thank you.

Salted Caramel Mocha

This is seriously ice cream in disguise. Like I said, caramel is the sweet flavor of fall time, but add chocolate and toffee syrup? Sign. Me. Up. To be more specific, it’s espresso, milk, mocha sauce, and toffee-nut syrup, topped with whipped cream, caramel, and salt flakes. Need I say more?

Hopefully, this gave you some ideas for your next coffee date or study sesh, and you won’t have to feel as exiled as I did when you’re surrounded by PSL propaganda every season. Of course, all of these drinks can be made hot or cold, which is perfect if your fall is anything like ours here in Texas. Now go out there and get confidently caffeinated.
