College is like an ice cream parlor. Each ice cream container in the cooler represents different personalities you meet in your four years. With that, people with similar personalities tend to like the same things and choose the same major fields. You will notice that people in your field of major have very similar personalities and qualities as you do. When you look at other major fields, you can tell that the people in it belong together. While winter is almost approaching us, let’s talk about the different flavors of ice cream and which major fields each ice cream flavor represents. Because really, ice cream is a year round dessert.
Vanilla: English/ Literature Majors
These people love classics. Whether it is a classic story or the art of oral/written language. Although they are very creative by adding sprinkles, chocolate syrup, and marshmallows, the basis of their work is on classic tales and methods.
Chocolate: History Majors
Chocolate is also a classic flavor. It is a flavor that has been used since the dawn of time. It’s what has held each of us together. History has changed from mint chocolate chip to cookies and cream, but the backbone of chocolate is what keeps these flavors together. It’s different than a base because it doesn’t support other information, but rather is the foundation of information. That is why history majors are like chocolate ice cream.
Coffee: Business Majors
People in this major eat coffee ice cream because of the aesthetics of it. Just like when you are holding a coffee while you are walking ten minutes late to your next class. Some people actually like the flavor, but others use it as a way to have it in their hand, showing that “I am a hard working person who needs coffee to survive” without actually taking a sip.
Mint Chocolate Chip: Biology
Mint chocolate chip is probably the best flavor out there (by my bias opinion). It’s minty fresh, with a bit of sweet indulgence. Biology majors can include doctors, nurses, physical therapist, biochemist, neuro, etc. Mint chocolate chip can be peppermint, chocolate chips, chocolate chunks, chocolate swirls, etc. While each flavor of mint chocolate chip has different elements that make it slightly different, each mint chocolate chip ice cream carries the same great taste.
Moose Tracks: Psychology
Psychology majors are everywhere. They are thinking about behavior, cognition, physical, environment, you name it. Everything happens for a reason. Moose tracks is that flavor that many like, but has many different interactions and tastes involved. There is the vanilla ice cream with an explosion of peanut butter chunks and chocolate swirl. Sweet and salty, creamy and crunchy, all working together to come up with an answer.
Pistachio: Engineers
Just like why people question your choice of ice cream, why do you major in this field of interest that is so complex. You’re basically a physics major, but with a little more social skills.
Black Raspberry: Communication Majors
Black Raspberry knows how to flow so smoothly and give that creamy goodness that ice cream lovers wants. Communication majors know how to, well, communicate. Give the people what they want to hear. With a touch of sweetness.
Sherbert: Undecided
While Sherbert isn’t really an ice cream flavor, it’s a choice that many ice cream parlors have. It is an option if you are undecided on what ice cream flavor to get, but without losing anything in the process. Sherbert gives you a little bit of creaminess with a good fruity taste to give you something that is worth it for the time being.
College is like an ice cream parlor. Each major has their own flavor with their own personality and taste. Some people add toppings but still have the basis of their overall major. Some colleges offer more flavors than others. Overall, it’s a sweet place to be!!
