There has been a wave of new music coming out in the first 2 months of the year, with March continuing this so far. Movie soundtracks are even absolutely fantastic, with Black Panther being a prime example. In my opinion, here are the top five new songs that have come out so far in the current year.
1. The Mountain- Three Days Grace
This band has been around since I was a child, and they consumed my childhood. Their new album comes out this Friday and this song was the first single they released from the album. Fans of rock music should definitely give this song a chance, as it has a sound and is one to jam out to in the car.
2. Church- Fall Out Boy
Fall Out Boy has given themselves a new sound since there return as a band several years back. This new album has more of an electronic sound, which has people intrigued to see what else they have in store for their tour this year.
3. Pray for Me- Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd
The Black Panther soundtrack that was produced by Kendrick Lamar, is absolutely fantastic. Every song has a great sound that blends perfectly with the movie with it’s sound and theme. Even if the more pop and hip-hop genres are not your first choice, this song is one to listen to at least once.
4. Red Cold River- Breaking Benjamin
Another rock band that has been making music for as long as I can remember, with my father having them playing all the time in the car. Their new single has a sound that is similar to their older songs, such as Diary of Jane. Their heavy sound may be a lot for some, but others may enjoy it.
5. My My My- Troye Sivan
Former Youtuber Troye Sivan has been excelling in his music career over the past few years, with his Blue Neighborhood album getting the attention of radio stations across the globe. His new single has a new sound for him that has proven to be successful, gaining traction yet again.
This year will be an interesting one in terms of music, with more albums from multiple genres are set to be released in the coming weeks and months. No matter the genre, there is music for every time of day, every mood, and every situation. These new songs are only a few of the ones that peaked my interest, and I am excited to see what other artists plan to release.
