It may not be Halloween anymore, but I am always up for a scary movie. I never used to like Horror Movies when I was younger. I would hide in my room whenever my parents or brother had it playing on the television.

As a HUGE Netflix and Horror Movie fan, I watch horror movies as much as I can on my free time. My friends actually think I am going to turn into a “psycho” because all I do is watch horror movies and sometimes I even turn them on at night to fall asleep. I know that’s crazy, but Horror Movies really don’t bother me.

Here are a few Horror Movies I enjoyed to watch on Netflix over the past year:

1. The Conjuring

  • Paranormal. Family enters a new home where a demon is trying to take one of their souls until they finally get close to getting ahold of one. Jumpy, but not bad. Good story line.

  • Rate: 7/10

2. Hush

  • A deaf girl got her house broken into by a killer. She has to do everything she can to save herself. Lots of action and a GREAT storyline. This is one of my favorites! I don’t want to say too much and give it all away.

  • Rate: 9/10

3. As Above So Below

  • A group of adventures go into the underground of the city street. There’s a lot of evil things that have been done down there and it will do anything in its power to take you with them. The demons try tricking their mind into seeing things that had happened in the past. I found this movie really interesting with all of the characters and the story why they wanted to enter the undergrounds.

  • Rate: 8/10

4. The Boy

  • A nanny comes to a new family’s home while the parents leave to go on “vacation”. The boy happens to be a doll, but seems to move and turn things on all on it’s own.. Hm… This movie will leave you on the edge of your seat because so many things are happening with the story line.

  • Rate: 8/10

5. The Shining

  • CLASSIC!  A family stays at a hotel where the son sees visions of something terrifying. The boy’s father soon becomes more and more violent…

  • Rate: 9/10

6. Scream 4

  • This was honestly my favorite Scream movie. Many people think they’re dumb, but I don’t mind watching these movies at all. A woman named Sydney is staying with her family. A killer is trying to go after Sydney again, but who is the killer this time? Pretty violent and gory, and a good story line.

  • Rate: 7/10

7. Would You Rather

  • A sister enters a game to try to win money to help her get treatment for her brother who is diagnosed with cancer. Violent, but not too bad. Amazing storyline, just wish I could change the ending of it.

  • Rate: 6/10

8. Friend Request

  • This movie is a little dark. About a girl who doesn’t have any friends and requested to follow one of the “popular” girls at her school. Many weird things start to happen when the popular girl unfriends her. Many of her closest friends start to die and things start to change for her also. Very dark, weird, and a little uncomfortable.

  • Rate: 6/10

Netflix also just added a couple of new movies that look really good. Hope you Horror Movie lovers don’t know at least one of these movies, so you can go and enjoy a bag of popcorn and watch them!

My name is Josie Sgarlata. I am a Junior at Utica College and I am on the Field Hockey team. My major is Public Relations!
Meet Bianca, I am currently a Junior at Utica College in Utica, NY.  I am a Criminal Justice major with a concentration in Homeland Security.  Crime investigation has always been something that interests me.  I’m dedicated and passionate and it’s hard for me to quit things. I get that from my father so don’t hold it against me- he was a veteran and police officer for 20 years.   Growing up in a family centered around law enforcement has helped guide me in this direction, and I will forever be grateful.  After graduation I intend to continue on to law school where I can further my education in hopes of becoming a criminal defense lawyer and later on a District Attorney.  An interesting fact about myself is that I found the passion to be a criminal defense lawyer from watching the O.J. Simpson case.  The facts and conspiracy theories evoked a whole new passion behind criminal investigation that I intend to use in my future.  One of my most prominent moments in my writing career was when I wrote for an online magazine and had my most prevalent article hit 1.6k shares.  I believe in treating people with the same kind of respect and manners you would expect in return, and in a way it has helped shaped my expectations in life.   When you first meet me I won’t be the loudest in the room or the center of attention, but I will be intently listening to everything you say, for what you have to say may have a purpose. I believe in purpose. I believe that everyone is here to help you grow into who you are today and who you will be tomorrow.
