Makeup can really start to add up over time, especially if you’re like me. I purchase anywhere from 50 to 100 dollars in makeup per week, and because of this I have learned some of the dupes! Here are some low cost products to replace those overpriced prestige products! 1. Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder Vs. L.A. Girl Cosmetics Pro Setting Powder
Why buy a product that has the same effect and only one shade to choose from when you can get the same thing on the drugstore side of Ulta? The Laura Mercier Powder is priced at $38.00, while the L.A. Girl Cosmetics Powder is priced at $5.99. I have been using the L.A. Girl Cosmetics powder for 7 months now and will not pay a dollar over six dollars for a setting powder again!
2. Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick Vs. NYX Cosmetics Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick
Everyone loves Kat Von D and her liquid lipsticks that are ever so popular, but $20.00 for that skinny bottle? Well, the Kat Von D Liquid Lipstick is 6.6 mL, while the NYX one is 4 mL. With the NYX Lipstick at a retail price of $6.99, you can get 3 bottles for almost the same price, for double the formula, and some extra money to spare! The NYX shade 04 in Soft-Spoken can be a great dupe for Kat Von D’s Lolita!
3. Smashbox Primer Water Vs. NYX Dewy Finish Setting Spray
The Smashbox Primer Water is one of my ride or die products, however I have found an incredibly cheap and similar dupe. The NYX Dewy Finish Setting Spray is just as good, at less than half the cost! For $7.99, you can get the 60 mL NYX spray, while you could be paying $32.00 for the 116 mL bottle of Smashbox spray. Yes, you get more with the Smashbox one, but you can buy two NYX sprays for $14.00 for 120mL, and that is if there is no coupon at Ulta (which seems to be very rare).
4. Tarte Shape Tape Concealer Vs. Physicians Formula #InstaReady Concealer
Physicians Formula concealer is retailed at $10.99 and is FULL coverage. I can not explain the amount of coverage I get from this concealer. I did not have high hopes for it, at least after using the Tarte Shape Tape, but it is by far my new favorite. After all, who wants to be $27.00 for concealer when you can get one just as good for $10.99, and you get a cute little sponge!
5. Naked Palettes Vs. Morphe Palettes
Why pay $54.00 for a Urban Decay Naked Palette, when you can pay $23.00 for most Morphe palettes? The UD Naked palettes have 13 pans of color while the Morphe palettes usually contain approximately 35 pans of color. You are paying a significant amount less for more when buying a Morphe palette. I actually prefer the Morphe palettes for the easy blending and it is shade range galore!
6. Morphe Contour and Highlight Sponge Vs. Beauty Blender Sponge
The Morphe sponge in my opinion is by far the best sponge on the market. It is retailed at $7.00, while the Beauty Blender is retailed at $20.00. The Morphe sponge is much easier to maneuver and is great for contouring. In my opinion, the Beauty Blender doesn’t quite live up to the Morphe sponge, especially for the price it is at.
