With the start of January 2019 in full swing, I’ve thought of some good resolutions to try and hold close for the whole year. Most of the time they slip away, but it is worth the thought still. Each of the resolutions will be followed by my reason for why.

1. Stay away from people who talk about other people badly.

Why:

It seems that I always am the friend that gets caught in the middle of other people’s drama and complaints. I never realized how much more stress and confusion that this adds to your life, well, until it happened to me. It forces you to choose a side and makes you form opinions that are false. Lets keep it simple and close hearted this 2019.

2.Think more in depth about my choices, and how it will affect me.

Why:

I know my goals already, so keeping them in mind, and thinking more about my choices: ranging from   difficult choices to small everyday choices, they will be clearer to me.

3. Stop being profusely negative.

Why:

Sometimes I get so stressed with school work that I get in this state of mind that “everything sucks”. Which, granted, it does, but being so negative does not help to counteract that at ALL. So, it is my goal to be more high spirited and be happy in the present moment.

4. Be more kind to strangers.

Why:

It is nice to see a smiling face back at you sometimes. The world is full of so much hatred and ugliness. If I can make somebody else happy for even one more moment of their day, then why not?

5. Stand up for those who I care about.

Why:

I’ve always been a very passive person. I do not like arguments, confrontation, or being the reason people are upset. Some people on the other hand will be brutally honest and unfair toward others. Often it happens in a way of exclusion of another person over a general dislike of that person. Well, this year i am surrounding myself with tolerant and patient people, who do not have the capability of being disrespectful to the people I care so deeply about.

These were all some pretty heavy weighted resolutions, but they are necessary. Life would be so much better if I could abide by these. It likely would be much better for many of you too. Here’s to a happier and healthier year ahead.

Hello everybody, my name is Stephanie. I am currently a Sophomore at Utica college. I am a nursing major and I am on the track and field team. I spend almost all my free time either in the library or practicing for track. I really enjoy having the opportunity to share pieces of me with you guys through the means of writing. Enjoy!
Meet Bianca, I am currently a Junior at Utica College in Utica, NY.  I am a Criminal Justice major with a concentration in Homeland Security.  Crime investigation has always been something that interests me.  I’m dedicated and passionate and it’s hard for me to quit things. I get that from my father so don’t hold it against me- he was a veteran and police officer for 20 years.   Growing up in a family centered around law enforcement has helped guide me in this direction, and I will forever be grateful.  After graduation I intend to continue on to law school where I can further my education in hopes of becoming a criminal defense lawyer and later on a District Attorney.  An interesting fact about myself is that I found the passion to be a criminal defense lawyer from watching the O.J. Simpson case.  The facts and conspiracy theories evoked a whole new passion behind criminal investigation that I intend to use in my future.  One of my most prominent moments in my writing career was when I wrote for an online magazine and had my most prevalent article hit 1.6k shares.  I believe in treating people with the same kind of respect and manners you would expect in return, and in a way it has helped shaped my expectations in life.   When you first meet me I won’t be the loudest in the room or the center of attention, but I will be intently listening to everything you say, for what you have to say may have a purpose. I believe in purpose. I believe that everyone is here to help you grow into who you are today and who you will be tomorrow.
