What to Wear on Your Valentine’s Day Date, No Matter the Plan

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Utah chapter.

With Valentine’s Day coming up your plans might include going a date or hanging out with your friends, but either way you’ll want to feel especially fabulous and effortless looking. Her Campus Utah is going to show you what to wear for Valentine’s day no matter what your plans are. We are going to help you to eliminate hours of outfit anguish, and inspire your perfect jaw-dropping ensemble.

The Casual Outfit

You might be going bowling, to the movies, or to Nickelcade, but you still want to look gorgeous. An outfit like this is perfect for a casual-chic vibe because a blouse makes it clear that this isn’t any ordinary date, especially with a chic collar like the one shown above. Red jeans  help your outfit look less dressy but thoroughly thought out. Throw on a cute pair of flats so that you’ll be comfortable doing a fun activity without worrying about your feet hurting. Lastly, a delicate ring and cross-body bag are accessories that let you move but give you a nice finishing touch.

  • Shoes: Gigi (Nordstrom)
  • Bag: Forever 21

The Outdoor Outfit

If you’re going be taking a walk downtown, sharing a hot chocolate, ice-skating, or riding in a romantic horse and carriage, bundling up without bulking up will be vital. Wear a cute sweater dress like the one above with a bold pair of heart patterned tights. A peacoat will keep you warm and looking classy, especially if it’s longer. Don’t forget about the scarf and mittens because this outfit is all about the layering, and the best part about layers is that you can easily remove items if it starts to get a little steamy!

  • Boots: Cole Haan
  • Beanie: ModCloth
  • Scarf: ModCloth
  • Mittens: Zappos

Warm Weather Outfit

Maybe you’re lucky enough to leave behind the cold weather for Valentine’s day and enjoy the long weekend ahead. If so, we love this outfit for such an occasion because it is stylish without trying too hard. These lace shorts will give you a very girly and flirty touch while the red chiffon tank adds a pop of color so all eyes will be on you! To keep this outfit casual while adding complexity but not heat, put on something like a denim vest. Sandals will help show off your legs and the hat gives you a more “fashion forward” look. Soak up some Vitamin D for us!

Fancy Dinner Outfit

Going out for a romantic dinner with that special someone is the most popular type of Valentine’s day plans and we don’t mind because good food and good company is the best type of celebration. For a date like this we know you want to take that someone’s breath away so, we recommend a red dress. Red is the new black, especially for Valentine’s day. Wearing red is known to make you feel more confident and sexy. The heart shape cut on the one above is very flattering because it will help emphasize your curves. Wearing a turquoise or cooler-toned necklace makes for a pleasantly surprising contrast and strappy nude heels will elongate your figure. If this is the outfit for you, enjoy your romantic dinner while looking beyond glamorous!
