What Piercing You Should Get Based on Your Sign

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Utah chapter.

Something about the end of summer always has me itching for another piercing. Whether it’s the feeling of renewal that comes with a new school year, wanting to have some final, lasting sensation of freedom as summer comes to a close, or just because my generation is kind of obsessed with body modification. If you’re looking for what your sign is begging you to put a hole through, look no further.

Aries – Industrial

Your bold and ambitious nature wants to make a statement – an industrial piercing is one of the most noticeable ear piercings you can get, and combining two piercings with one piece of jewelry is basically telling the world that you’re not afraid to go all out in one sitting.

Taurus – Helix

The serenity of reward you long for can be found in the simple, yet badass helix piercing. This piercing is just one step out of the ordinary, and is one of the simpler piercings beyond your classic lobe.

Gemini – Tragus

A tragus piercing is perfect for the Gemini – adaptable in its ability to be subtle or bold. The placement makes this piercing fairly easy to heal, allowing you to continue your outgoing ways without worrying about extra pain.

Cancer – Belly Button

The belly button piercing is a constant reminder of your ability to exist seamlessly in both the material and emotional worlds. Your ability to keep it a secret, show it off, or anything in between makes this piercing just another way you can show off your innate ability to read the energy of any situation.

Leo – Forward Helix

You’re a show-off and we love it! Live your best theatrical life with this bold piercing, putting your badass foot forward (literally).

Virgo – Upper Lobe(s)

While this may come off as one of the more ‘boring’ piercings, for perfectionist Virgo you can’t mess with a good thing. This piercing comes with so many incredible jewelry options and, frankly, endless possibilities. Plus, this piercing is one of the most adaptable of the bunch, able to be easily dressed up or down depending on the situation, which will make your logical side feel at peace with the decision, too.

Libra – Surface Tragus

You’ll find peace in the symmetry of this piercing – both ends perfectly frame the tragus of the ear, and give a sense of balance, no matter how many or few piercings are covering your ear to begin with.

Scorpio – Nipple(s)

NO I’m not saying this because everyone thinks you’re obsessed with sex – Scorpio derives its power from the emotional, psychic realm. This incredibly personal, intimate strength is something that only you (and the ones lucky enough to get close to you) truly understand. Having a reminder of your physical body will ground you when you need it, and connect your innate psychic abilities with the potential within your physical being.

Sagittarius – Daith

Your constant quest for knowledge will find some satisfaction knowing the original name of this piercing (da’at in Hebrew) means knowledge. This piercing is also rumored to help relieve migraines, which our fire-signed Sagittarians will no doubt appreciate.

Capricorn – Nose

Because you’re driven by the need for success and authority, a nose piercing automatically presents you as someone who takes no shit, and will happily take risks in order to get what they want. Another adaptable piercing, a nose piercing will further prove to any witnesses just how much our Cap is able to own on their path to victory.

Aquarius – Conch

Aquarians desire for individuality can be fulfilled with this piercing’s customizability. Whether you go with a fun stud, a unique ring, or some kind of connecting jewelry, this is a solid staple piercing that can be molded to fit its owner.

Pisces – Rook

The placement of this piercing plays into your constant division between fantasy and reality – stuck between the inner and outer parts of the ear. Just as Pisces absorbs the lessons of all previous signs, the rook piercing encapsulates every other ear piercing, bringing a sense of cohesiveness to any smattered collection of jewelry.

Nobody said you had to pick your next piercing based on your zodiac sign (even if you have to go through your whole chart to land on the one you want…), but then again, no one said you couldn’t.
