When I decided that I wanted to live in my sorority house for the fall semester, all my friends looked at me like I was crazy. I even thought I was crazy. I had never shared a room before in my life and am inherently an introvert who likes her space. But I knew it was something I needed to experience, and I’m here to tell you that it will be one of the best times of your life. When else will you have the chance to live with 16-100 of your fellow peers who are all in a similar stage of life? For many of us, that option will never come again; take advantage while you can! This is what it’s really like to live in a sorority house:Â
The Wifi Sucks
Seriously though, you’ll probably be going from room to room trying to find a connection and eventually find yourself across the street sitting on the ground of your next-door neighbor frat house bumming off their Internet connection. Or, if you are lucky enough to have a good connection in your room, give it an hour and it’ll drop you.
Sharing is Caring
You are going to be sharing everything: a room, bathroom, clothes, food, everything. But it’s okay because that means you’ll never have “nothing” to wear again.Â
Â
Glitter
There is glitter everywhere. The bathroom counter, on your sheets, literally everywhere. There is no rationality behind why there is glitter everywhere so it’ll be easier if you just accept it at all points of the year. Big & Little season? Glitter. Philanthropy? Glitter. Recruitment? Glitter. Living in a sorority house means adding a little bit of sparkle wherever you go.
We Actually Study
You may think that the girls who live in never study because of how loud/busy it is. This is false. The girls who live in study more than anyone else I know. It’s also convenient because you’re always going to have a friend to study with. And since there are so many girls in the house with so many different majors, you’ll have a tutor in pretty much every subject you can think of!
The Heat
Needless to say, it’s as hot as Hades in the house. That many people in one house, it heats up. Fast.
Closet Space
Living in a sorority house, you get really good at fitting a large amount of clothes into a small closet. It’s probably going to be something you pride yourself on, even if you can’t find a pair of shoes under all your absurd amounts of clothing. But hey, at least the door shuts. Almost.Â
Â
You Are Never Bored
Boredom is a term that does not exist when living in a sorority house. There is always something going on. Whether it’s watching a movie with your sisters, going out, crafting, or even just sitting around the kitchen. You’ll never have to do anything alone again. Plus you’ll always have someone to eat ice cream with you.
You Live with Your Best Friends
Need I repeat myself? Living in is great because you get to share a house with some of your best friends and get close with girls you never really spent much time with before! You become a family with the ones you live-in with and you create thousands of memories that will forever be part of your sorority experience.

Living in is one of the best decisions that I have ever made. And while living in the sorority house has its cons such as bad wifi, it will be one of your favorite parts of sorority life.
