I have never felt more connected to myself and who I want to be as when I am traveling. The freeing feeling of flying high above the clouds, or smelling the sea air of the Indian Ocean are feelings that I cannot even describe to anyone but those who have walked those paths before. In the past year and half I have traveled to six new countries (South Africa being by first time out of the US in July of 2017) and cannot express the gratefulness I have for this life I live as a traveler. I promise you, by stepping out of your comfort zone, there is a hoard of amazing experiences for you to have. I have laughed under the Southern Cross below the Equator, danced my way through South African festivals, drank true Moroccan tea while rug hunting, and have lived 100 lives in such a short time by daring to step outside. I hope my story and ideas may inspire future wanderings for all those bold enough to go beyond our borders. So below I have some of my favorite traveler quotes to hopefully inspire new adventures for everyone who reads.

Inspirational Quotes For Every Traveler at Heart

“Travel isn’t always pretty. It isn’t always comfortable. Sometimes it hurts, it even breaks your heart. But that’s okay. The journey changes you; it should change you. It leaves marks on your memory, on your consciousness, on your heart, and on your body. You take something with you. Hopefully, you leave something good behind.” – Anthony Bourdain

“Remember that happiness is a way of travel – not a destination.” -Roy M. Goodman

“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.” – Helen Keller

“It is not down in any map; true places never are.” – Herman Melville

“Because in the end, you won’t remember the time you spent working in the office or mowing your lawn. Climb that goddamn mountain.” – Jack Kerouac

“Home is behind, the world ahead,

And there are many paths to tread

Through shadows to the edge of night,

Until the stars are all alight.

Then world behind and home ahead,

We’ll wander back and home to bed.

Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,

Away shall fade! Away shall fade!”

  • J. R. R. Tolkien

“Jobs fill your pocket, but adventures fill your soul.” – Jamie Lyn Beatty

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”― Mark Twain

To see the world, things dangerous to come to, to see behind walls, draw closer, to find each other, and to feel. That is the purpose of life.”  – Secret Life of Walter Mitty

“The life you have led doesn’t need to be the only life you have.” – Anna Quindlen

“All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” – J. R. R. Tolkien

“Travel makes one modest. You see what a tiny place you occupy in the world.” -Gustav Flaubert

The world is awaiting us, those who are daring to believe that a difference can be made. We will not hide in the shadows, but grasp our future and explore every opportunity granted to us, whichever path life may lead us down. So to finish this article off, my favorite quote for every wanderluster out there, “It’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.”
