Take a Study Break with These 3 Series This Fall

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Utah chapter.

Fall is the time of year when you can sip on a pumpkin spice latte with no shame and be able to justify large, baggy sweaters as being “fashionable.” But the best part of Fall, from my perspective, is the amazing lineup of TV shows that premier. If you’re a TV junkie like me, then you know that the Fall premieres offer some of the most anticipated and rewarding shows. It’s like receiving a Christmas present from all of your favorite networks. The shows listed below are ones you won’t want to miss this Autumn, so get your DVRs and streaming services ready.

NBC

The Voice

Okay, okay, I know NBC’s The Voice has been dominating all musical competitors for a while now, but this season is going to be MAJOR. Here’s why. This season, which is different than any of its other 10 seasons, is featuring two female superstars as judges. That’s right, make way Adam Levine and Blake Shelton, because the girls are taking over. Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys have joined The Voice’s judging panel and are about to show the boys that girls really do run the world. The Voice premiered on NBC September 19th, 2016, and airs every Monday and Tuesday at 8/7c.

FOX

Scream Queens

The world is a better place because of Emma Robert’s portrayal of Chanel Oberline on Scream Queens. Having the second season of the series back on TV makes the Fall so much better. If you haven’t watched the first season of Scream Queens, get to it NOW! The show focuses on a mysterious killer on the loose in various locations and settings. Last season, the show featured the “red devil killer,” who haunted students on a college campus. This season, the storyline features the “Chanel’s,” (Emma Roberts, Abigail Breslin, Billie Catherine Lourd) working to earn medical degrees at Dean Munsch’s (Jaime Lee Curtis) privately owned hospital. And this season has another killer on the loose. Oh, and did I mention, the show is immensely clever at poking fun at the millennial generation as well as featuring hot, hot, men like Taylor Lautner and John Stamos? Scream Queens premiered September 21st, 2016, and airs every Tuesday at 9:01/8:01c.

Netflix

Amanda Knox

The public can’t seem to get enough of crime documentaries and TV series, but recently series and documentaries featuring real-life cases have caught everyone’s attention. Similar to FX’s, The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, and CBS’s, The Case of: JonBenét Ramsey, Netflix is unveiling a documentary featuring the case of Amanda Knox. If you’re not familiar with the case, Amanda Knox was an American woman who spent a long four years in an Italian prison after the murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher, in 2007. The case became widely publicized on major media outlets and kept the public eager to learn more about Knox, a twenty-year-old white, female student accused of murder. The documentary, Amanda Knox, is set to focus on the mysteries and controversies that surrounded this iconic case. Amanda Knox premiers on Netflix September 30th, 2016.

Don’t forget to pencil in these shows to your daily make-up routine or study-break sessions. You won’t want to miss out.
