Reactions We Have All Had to the Utah Weather

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Utah chapter.

Growing up, most moms tell their kids to bring a jacket to school, just in case the weather turned out to be a bit more chilly than expected. A logical suggestion, since weather can be unpredictable sometimes. However, Utah seems to be one of the few places where you might find yourself sporting a tank top and tennis shoes in one hour, then needing a down parka and snow boots the next. At least with the lovely uncertainty we deal with comes the talent of learning to laugh at your situation and keep going about your day. If you’ve ever experienced this weather, you can relate to when it’s just one of those days.

When you’re trying to decide whether or not you want to trust the app that says it’ll be sunny and wear those new booties that you haven’t waterproofed yet.

When you wore those booties anyway, see the clouds start to roll in, and all you can think is no.

How it feels when you can no longer avoid going outside to get to your next class or to your car. Can you say, soaked?

When you look outside again after a few minutes, and the elements have completely changed out there. Chill, Mother Nature, no one asked for a blizzard.

Trying to calculate when the best time to leave the library is in order to avoid ice skating to the parking lot.

Hoping and praying the snow will stick overnight so there’s even a slight possibility of a snow day…then waking up to find it all melted. If it had to be here at all, shouldn’t it have at least done something useful?

Good luck out there, collegiettes!
