Our annual “Muss Bus” is just one more thing that makes the University of Utah the best! This year around 150 students took about a 14-hour bus ride up to Seattle to cheer us to victory and see the rainy city.   The game was cold, tight, and a nail biter, but in the end so worth it! Here are just a couple highlights of the trip for many students.

Pike’s Place Market

While the trip was short- too short- students had the day before and morning of the game to explore Seattle and many choose to go wander the very popular and spectacular Pike’s Place Market.  It had everything from apple slice samples to your classic tourist souvenirs and was the perfect distraction for the close game that we were ranked to lose (we sure showed them!) that we knew was coming so soon!

University of Washington Campus

The University of Utah has a gorgeous campus so our expectations were pretty high, however, the University of Washington did not disappoint.  With a library just like the one from Harry Potter to the gorgeous river views students were found site seeing in the hours before the game.

The Tailgate

For many Utah students, this was the first time they had experienced an official out of state tailgate and the best word to describe it was DELUXE.  They handed out fleece gloves as you walked in and the whole tent was heated which was exactly what everyone needed before sitting through the very long game.  In addition to the gloves, the tailgate had delicious food including fresh salmon, merchandise giveaways, and even a Utes Merchandise store where all of us who came unprepared could recover with the $4 ponchos (these made for some great pictures!).

The Game

Last but certainly not least, the highlight of everyone’s trip was the game.  Many students, after we were ranked to lose, had their doubts but no one’s faith dwindled and not without a fight, the Utes finally prevailed!  It was a fun game to watch but stressful due to the score being very close up until the 4th quarter. Luckily though, our boys pulled it out and finished with a healthy 11-point lead. While most of us were seated at the tippy top in the Visiting Student Section of the stadium that did not discourage us from being as loud as possible, singing the fight song, and doing the 3rd down jump.  It also gave us a great view of all the University of Washington students leaving and seeing a redder filled stadium than purple by the end.

All in all, the Muss Bus trip up to Seattle was wildly successful and we think everyone involved had a great time! Thanks University of Utah for providing us with such a great opportunity and as always, GO UTES!!!
