Since moving into a dorm when I began college, I’ve grown as a person and as a student. Here are seven things I’ve taken away from living in the dorms on a floor with 40 of my peers.

1.) If they don’t make your life better, they don’t need to be in your life

2.) Learn to enjoy cleaning —  it’ll come in handy

3.) Don’t be afraid to Invite yourself places

4.) Alone time is necessary and sometimes hard to come across

5.) Going to bed early is underrated

6.) Although it sounds shallow, Make friends with someone who has a car

7.) Enjoy being in charge of your own future

Living in a small dorm room, especially if you are sharing the room with a roommate, is an adjustment. It can be fun but it can also be challenging. I have met new people in the dorms and learned a new way of living on my own!
