Winter is upon us and when the weather gets colder that means our skin gets dryer and dryer. It can be tempting to drop all of your homework and just say “I give up” and go to the spa. The one problem is… going the spa is EXPENSIVE. As broke college students, we just don’t have the money to go get massages or our nails done as often as we would like. It’s definitely not worth breaking the bank, but it is important to take time to treat yo’ self.

Here are some easy ways to get the spa experience in the comfort of your own home!

Take a bubble bath!

There is nothing quite as relaxing as taking a nice hot bath. You can put on some of your favorite tunes and take time to decompress. Grab some bubble bath and maybe even a bath bomb and start relaxing ASAP. Make sure you choose a scent that is soothing to you. This will make your bath 10 times better, I promise. If you don’t have a bathtub, try taking a nice steamy shower! It is basically the same as a steam room… right?

Light some relaxing candles and read a good book

One of these evenings curl up with a good book and your favorite candle. Any candle will work, but my favorites recently have been the aromatherapy collection from Bath and Body Works! They have candles for stress relief, focus, happiness, comfort, recharging, energy and relaxing. They are perfect for bringing the smells of the spa right into your bedroom!

Give yourself a manicure/pedicure

Having my nails done is something that gives me so much confidence! If you feel the same way, take some time out of your busy week to paint your nails. Find a color that makes you feel best and go to town with it. If you are impatient, like me, and always end up messing up your newly painted wet nails, try to do an at-home gel manicure. There are lots of different brands that sell do-it-yourself gel manicure sets, but they can get pricey. It can definitely be worth it if you are someone who loves to do your nails but do some research to make sure you are getting the best set.

DIY Face Masks… Just Kidding

EVERYONE is always talking about mixing two simple ingredients together to make a revolutionary face mask. While this might be true… ain’t nobody got time for that. If we are being realistic here, go down to your favorite place on earth, Target, and grab a 2 dollar face mask. It is a quick and easy way to pamper yourself and leave your skin feeling great. The best part is… no mess to clean up afterward!

With these ideas, you are sure to have the best spa night ever! College can be crazy and it is important to keep your self-care at the forefront of your mind. Take some time to pamper yourself, you deserve it!
