It’s been a year since quarantine started last year, ever since then like most people I have been stuck inside of my house. Because of that, I have had a lot of time to waste, and like most people, I decided to spend that time playing videos. So here is a list of some of the games I have loved playing while real life is on pause.

Animal Crossing New Horizons

This is probably one of the most iconic games of 2020. Like everyone else at the start of quarantine, I played Animal Crossing New Horizons. In Animal Crossing New Horizons you live on a deserted island and make animal friends. I loved this game so much when it first came out. I remember spending hundreds of hours in this game in the first couple of months that it came out.

Hakuoki Kyoto Winds

Hakuoki is a visual novel dating sim. In the game, you play as a girl named Chizuru Yukimura who is looking for her lost father, while looking for her father she runs into a group of samurai called the Shinsengumi. She finds out that they are also looking for her missing father, so she joins them to find her father, and then along the way she falls in love with one of the love interests.

Final Fantasy XIV

This is the game that I have probably put the most hours into since quarantine started. Final Fantasy XIV is a Final Fantasy MMO set in the world of Eorzea. Even though it is an MMO the story is absolutely amazing. I love this game because after nearly 80 days of total gameplay I still have not run out of anything to do. With constant updates, and just playing with friends I don’t feel like I will really run out of anything to do.

Hades

Hades is a rogue-like dungeon crawler, where you play as Hades’ son Zagreus while he tries to escape the underworld. The game is split into four sections of levels and each section ends with a boss fight. Once you die you’ll have to start off from floor one. Throughout each floor, Zagreus can gain different skills from the gods of Olympus. Because of the different skills, he gains each playthrough is totally unique. It is the replayability that made me love this game so much.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy

Ace Attorney is a visual novel where you play as Defense Attorney Phoenix Wright. In this game, you go through different murder cases and must figure out who the real murderer is to help your client to not be declared guilty. In every case, you must gather evidence, question suspects, and get ready for the court case. I love this game because every case is so much fun to play through because of the quirky characters and who doesn’t want to solve a murder?

Let’s be honest; if it wasn’t for these games I don’t know how I would have gotten through the last year.
