Do you already know who your sweetheart for Valentines is? Or, are you going to avoid grocery stores, Cupid on the media and all the little hearts? Either way, Valentine’s Day is a time for us to show the people we love how much we care about them. Whether you love your best friend, your boyfriend or husband, your parents, your sorority sisters or your dog, here are some fun ways to spend February 14th with anyone.

With your boyfriend or significant other:
Try taking a carriage ride downtown! You can bring hot chocolate and bundle up in blankets while enjoying the downtown scenery. When was the last time you really looked at all the gorgeous sights Salt Lake has to offer? If you’ve been in this city for a while, it’s always nice to be reminded of its beauty.

Find an unusual recipe online or in a cookbook and make dinner together. Sharing tasks and enjoying the end result can bring you closer in your relationship. You can get some cute, cheap table settings and decorations from the dollar store to complete your meal.

With a group of people or your best friends:
Rent a limo for an hour or two and just cruise around town! Stop by each person’s apartment or dorm to pick them up. Have the driver take you to a restaurant or ice cream shop and enjoy the company. If you get about 10 people to go in on the limo, it ends up being pretty cheap for everyone.

Host a poker night in your dorm or apartment. Have all your girl and guy friends over, and tell everyone to bring a different kind of candy like M&Ms or Skittles. Use the candy for betting instead of cash. You can get playing cards at the dollar store and maybe a few prizes or gag gifts just for fun. If you don’t know how to play poker or other tradition casino games, ask a friend or use an instructional Web site.

With anyone you love and care about:
Pack some sandwiches and go up to the zoo. It’s close to the U’s campus and is open 365 days a year. It’s not too expensive to get in, and you can take pictures with the animals.
Try go-carting! Racing around the track can be fun and bring out the competitive side of you and whomever you bring. This activity can be a bit pricey, but it’s worth the splurge. If you get a group of people, lower rates may be available.

She has a lot of energy and an outgoing personality- perfect for her work in service coordination, peer advising, the Department of Communication, Express, and of course HerCampus! Jetta loves social media, writing, and learning new promotion and advertising skills. She does not currently drive a Jetta, but hopefully she can afford one upon completion of her degree!
