Five Ways To Make the Most Of What’s Left of 2019

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Utah chapter.

The leaves are changing, kind of, and fall is officially here. What does this mean for you? 2019 is coming to a close and that means a new year and new resolutions. Even though 2020 is just around the corner, there is still time to make the most of 2019. Here are five ideas to get you started.

1. Push yourself out of your comfort zone.

One of the best things you can do for yourself is to try and get out of your comfort zone. I find that some of the most rewarding things that have happened in my life happened because I pushed myself to experience something new. If we are always stuck in our habits we will never truly do the things that we want to do. Write down three things you want to experience or three ways to get outside of your comfort zone and try to finish them before this year ends!

2. Try something new.

Trying something new can really bring new energy into your life. We all have those things that we have wanted to try but never had the chance or were nervous to do. Now is the time! Find something that you have always wanted to try and go do it. Time isn’t slowing down, so try it before the year ends!

3. Reconnect with an old friend.

Life gets busy, we get caught up in our own things. Something that might be hard is to keep in contact constantly with everyone we care about. Just because we don’t always see someone doesn’t mean we don’t care about them. Invite an old friend to grab lunch, get coffee, go on a hike! Catching up with someone won’t just make them feel loved and cared about but you will improve someone’s day along with your own.

4. Take time for yourself.

Self-care is one of most important things you can do for yourself, but also one of the hardest to practice. It is okay to take a break and do something that makes you happy. Read a new book, journal, take a walk, do something that brings joy to your life. No matter how stressful life gets, or how crazy everything may feel, it is important to take time for yourself. Even taking thirty minutes to do something that will improve your day will be worth it!

5. Set goals for yourself year-round.

We often set goals for ourselves through New Year’s resolutions. Let’s be honest though, they are hard to stick to or keep up with. A way we can maintain our goals is to always keep them updated. We don’t have to wait a whole calendar year to set new goals for ourselves! Evaluating year round will help you stay true to the goals you have at that time and will help you be successful for the rest of 2019.

There is no use in waiting for a new year to try new things or set goals for yourself. Make the most out of 2019 and don’t wait for 2020! You will thank yourself in the end.
