During overwhelming times like these I am thankful Disney made a streaming service. I recently resubscribed to Disney+, and it has been one of the best decisions I have made this year. It’s important to keep up with the news, but equally important to take care of yourself. With all the recent negative news, I have found myself feeling down and needing to unplug. A great distraction for me has been Disney+ because it makes me feel like a kid again. If you find yourself needing a break from the news and doing homework, this is the watch list for you!

The Proud Family

I was obsessed with this show as a kid! The Proud Family was ahead of its times. Penny Proud and her family will surely have you laughing as they navigate their crazy fun lives. All three seasons are currently streaming on Disney+ and each episode is about 20 minutes. If you are a fan of The Proud Family, you are going to love this — Disney is reviving the series, and we will be getting more episodes soon. Proud Family: Louder and Prouder is set to come to the streaming service soon (:

The Emperor’s New School

If you love the movie The Emperor’s New Groove, you are going to love this spin-off. Kuzco needs to graduate from high school in order to be emperor, but Yzma is doing anything in her power to prevent that from happening because she wants to be empress. A great show to keep you entertained!

Kim Possible

This might be the best animated series to ever air on Disney Channel. There’s no doubt about it, Kim Possible is one badass kid. She is a trailblazer for female empowerment. With her best friend Ron by her side and computer genius Wade, she is unstoppable. Who didn’t want to be Kim Possible when they were younger? And can we take a moment to appreciate that beautiful naked mole rat Rufus (aka Pitbull hahaha).

Phineas and Ferb

There’s 104 days of summer vacation and corona comes along just to end it! Jk, hopefully not! This show was too good! Phineas and his stepbrother Ferb always made the most out of summer while their sister Candace tried to get them in trouble. An iconic animated series for those growing up in the 2000s. Will Phineas and Ferb ever get caught? You’re going to have to watch the series to find out.

Moana

If you haven’t watched this movie yet, you are missing out! Moana is such an empowering figure for young girls everywhere and will lift your spirits when you’re feeling down. Moana is on a journey to save her island with her new friend, Maui, that happens to be a demigod. Such a sweet story and the soundtrack is amazing. If you want to listen to The Rock rap, this is your chance!

Toy Story 4

If you are a fan of the Toy Story franchise, you’re going to love this. I always thought that Toy Story 3 was the perfect ending to the series, but this one has me second guessing my rankings for the movies. This movie will have you laughing and crying as Woody becomes a forgotten toy. 10/10 would recommend. Just make sure you have a box of tissues near you (‘:

I hope these movies help you stay positive during these tough times. Remember to keep washing your hands and stay home. You might not be at risk, but someone else you come in contact with definitely could be.
