In high school, rumors rampantly spread of a bakery that offered a design-your-own vegan cinnamon roll option, located in Berkeley. To a trend-seeking teenager living in the Bay Area, it was like a dream come true. My friends and I would take a 30-minute drive to order the custom-made cinnamon rolls—that were vegan and actually delicious, nonetheless.

Cinnaholic is a vegan bakery franchise that was featured on ABC’s “Shark Tank” in 2014, and as of 2017, it has opened in Salt Lake City! Their first location was opened in Berkeley, California in 2010, as a partner with the Atlanta Franchise Group.

Since Robert Herjavec, an investor on “Shark Tank” invested $200,000 for 40% in the company, locations opened around the country.

The thought of an all-vegan dessert isn’t exactly the most appealing idea to an omnivore like me (and many others); however, my mind has been opened. Cinnaholic has over 15 different flavors of frosting and almost 20 different options for toppings. If that isn’t the indecisive person’s worst nightmare… I don’t know what is, but it is well worth the struggle. The cinnamon roll itself is light, fluffy, and pleasantly sweet; however, once you get all the goods on top, you may just need to go into the slightest of food coma. It’s vegan though—so it’s worth it, right?

Cinnaholic not only offers classic cinnamon rolls with a variety of frostings and toppings, but they offer bite-sized buns, cinnacakes, brownies, chocolate chip cookies, and cookie dough. If you’ve got a sweet tooth and want to try Cinnaholic for a treat, it’s Salt Lake location is located at 358 South 700 East between Subway and Rumbi in the shopping center — so go try it!
