It’s officially spring, which means it’s time for spring cleaning! It can be easy to put off or feel as though you don’t have enough time, so I’ve included some of my favorite organization & decluttering hacks! These hacks are so simple and each one will take just a few minutes but save time and help your room look amazing!

Desk Shelf

Each semester our desks get more cluttered, making for a cramped workspace; if you need to declutter your desk, a desk shelf can help keep things organized! It also gives you room to keep plants nearby, which have been proven to increase productivity & reduce stress! (Gaskell, 2017).

Reverse Hanger

This is a hack that I started using last summer to see what clothes I’m actually wearing, because each spring I go through my closet and donate the clothes I don’t wear. The logic behind it is that if your hanger is still hanging reverse it shows that you didn’t wear the top, dress, or pants in the last six months. To do this you just put your hangers in so the end is facing outwards, and then once you wear it, when you hang it again you put it in the usual way.

Drawer Dividers

Drawer dividers are so helpful when organizing clothing, underwear, and bras in drawers. You can buy them at stores like Target, The Container Store, Walmart, and Amazon. There are also DIY videos on youtube on how you can make your own drawer dividers!

Under-Bed Storage

If you have room under your bed frame, I highly suggest buying totes or storage cubes to organize all of your items. I personally love using my under-bed storage because it gives me more space in my room, and it looks less cluttered!  I bought totes to keep all of my shoes in, as well as books, and extra bedding.

Label Electronic Cords using Washi Tape or Bread Tags

Between chargers, lamps, alarm clocks, and TVs we seem to have more and more cords in our rooms. It can be difficult to keep track of which belong to each device, an easy way to organize your cords is to use washi tape to label the cords or use old bread tags to do so. With washi tape, you can buy different colors and patterns for different devices, or you can label old bread tags and clip them on to the ends of the cords.

Shower rings : tank tops

This is a hack I wish I knew in the past! You can buy a pack of shower curtain rings and you just slide your tank top onto the ring and clasp it onto a hanger– saving you space in your drawers or closet, and time because you no longer have to dig through your drawers to find a specific tank top.

Bedside Caddy

Bedside caddies are a simple way to declutter your room and keep items accessible. They hang on the side of your bed and help to keep your dresser clear and keep items like remotes, tablets, books, etc within reach!

Blanket Ladder

A blanket ladder is not only aesthetically pleasing but frees up room in your closet! You can hang your favorite blankets on each rung of the ladder, add if you add string lights it adds decor to your room!

It can feel like a big undertaking to declutter your room and closet, so I recommend picking one project at a time. I promise the time you spend organizing and decluttering will be worth it, and the next time you do it, it will be even easier!
