5 of the Most Hilarious, Ridiculous, Outrageous, and Straight Up Savage Dwight Moments

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Utah chapter.

This goes without saying, but The Office is the best show to have ever been created. It skillfully balances humor, emotion, and action in one seriously mundane setting. However, one character stands out and he is quite possibly the coolest television character to have ever existed. Dwight Kurt Schrute is his name, insanity is his game. Here are five of his most outrageous moments:

1. The Head Injury

In episode 12 of season 2, Dwight ends up crashing his car into a telephone pole right by the office’s entrance in a frantic attempt to rescue Michael who unsurprisingly burned his foot on a George Foreman Grill. Ultimately Dwight obtains a concussion that makes him funny, approachable, and kind—everything Dwight usually is not. For those special Office fans, we will always understand Pam’s sadness when he goes to the hospital, for she knows the “Nice Dwight,” will be long gone. Also the scene where Dwight drinks in the car on the way to the hospital is a prime example of Dwight logic….

2. A Brief Moment Of Weakness

Episode 4 of the 4th season is a particularly sad moment for Dwight. Angela has finally explicitly rejected him, after he gave her an ultimatum. This obviously unhealthy relationship has been an emotional rollercoaster for our buddy Dwight. The image of him cowering in the stairwell of the office is an image I will never be able to get out of my head.

3. An Appearance of Dr. Hannibal Lecter

Episodes 14 & 15 of season 5 might be the ultimate episodes of the entire series. Dwight sets the office on fire as a way to train the employees in their fire safety plan, which causes Stanley to have a heart attack. When corporate makes the branch endure a CPR seminar, Dwight removes the dummies plastic face as a way to reenact the famous horror movie. Of course, Dwight nails the Hannibal Lecter aesthetic to a tee…

4. The Appendix’s Burst

Episode 15 of season 8—a must see—is probably the craziest/most dangerous thing Dwight has ever done. This situation takes Dwight’s ridiculousness to a whole other level. Dwight endures his appendix bursting, but consistently refuses to go to the hospital, in an effort to secure a Vice Principal position for the new Saber retail stores. Let us not forgot his terrible, cringy, and all around uncomfortable presentation in which Jim points out that Dwight’s wound is bleeding through his trademark oatmeal colored shirt.

5. The Birthing of a Watermelon

The scene where Dwight births a watermelon in episode 4 of season 5 to prepare Michael for the birth of (not) his baby is undoubtedly the funniest f***ing thing I’ve ever witnessed. I will never be able to un-hear Dwight’s little pregnant lady impersonation of “I’m screaming, I’m screaming, I’m screaming.” That’s honestly all I have to say about that one.
