Winter is hard. It’s cold, often gloomy, and it’s easy to get into the habit of slipping into leggings and a sweater every single day. Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing I love more than a good lounge-y outfit, but there will inevitably come a time when you need to look a little more presentable. Here are some of my favorite fashion trends that I’ve been seeing this winter that you can easily incorporate into any outfit, as demonstrated by myself:

  1. Dr. Martens

Docs are all the rage right now, and for good reason. With water resistant leather and great traction on the soles, they can double as snow boots for city terrain. It seems that everyone and their mother has a pair of black 1460s (the classic pair), but this is a mass trend I am absolutely loving, and you best believe I’m right there with everyone else. You can wear them with casual or fancy outfits, jeans, slacks, dresses when it gets warmer, you name it! 10/10 would recommend.

2. Layered sweaters

Sometimes one sweater just isn’t enough, you guys. With the rise of the eboy last fall we saw the turtleneck-under-graphic-tee trend skyrocket, and guess what! Just because it’s freezing out doesn’t mean it needs to end. Swap that tee out for a baggy sweater and boom, you’re cozy and stylish. You’re welcome.

3. White!

I disagree very very strongly with whoever made the “no white after Labor Day” rule. I will continue to wear white as long as I want to, and I will look fab doing it. My current favorite are my new white linen pants. I even went so far as to do white on white (well, I guess it’s more off-white on white, but you get the gist), and I don’t think I’ll ever look back.

Before I close, I’ll leave you all with two more general style tips. First: I had an epiphany over the break that I wrote about in a recent post on my personal blog. I was struggling so hard to define a “style” for myself that I was getting too stressed to actually buy any clothes, because I was afraid it wouldn’t fit with enough of my outfits. But then, one day, I was looking at yet another iconic picture of Hailey Bieber wearing sweat pants and a blazer and I realized, she can get away with wearing literally anything she wants, and that’s because she wears her clothes with confidence. Every single human being can be that way. I realized that I don’t need to define just one style, or buy clothes for just that style, because as long as I love what I’m wearing, it’ll look good!

And  one last tip: thrift. If you’re like me, and you don’t like sticking to just one style, thrifting is a safe option because you’re not dropping tons of money on clothes that you might decide you don’t like two weeks later. Also, it’s the best option for the environment! Save money and our planet!! Happy shopping!
