Women are founding companies at a historic rate, with more than 11 million women-owned businesses in the U.S. today. If you’re one of these trailblazing women, here are some resources on campus and here in Salt Lake City to help you on your entrepreneurship journey.

You’ve probably seen or heard of Lassonde Studios if you’re a student here at the U. But, did you know that under the Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute, there are dozens of resources and opportunities for entrepreneurs beyond just the on-campus dorms? The institute now provides opportunities for students to learn about entrepreneurship and innovation through hands-on programming. Programs include workshops, networking events, business plan competitions, startup support, innovation programs, graduate seminars, scholarships, community outreach and more. All programs are open to students from any academic major or background, so be sure to utilize all of the free resources you possibly can.

Womenpreneurs Utah cultivates a culture of gender integration, and is made of female business leaders who believe that the powers of mentoring and community will give rise to the next generation of female leaders. Womenpreneurs offers everything from workshops to networking events and often brings in amazing female speakers to help inspire you on your own business journey.

Braid is a local group here in Salt Lake City that provides skills-based workshops and networking for women. According to their website, the idea behind the name Braid is that one strand by itself can easily bend or break, but when you weave those threads together, they add strength to each other. Braid wants to apply this thinking to the community by helping women to connect and add strength to each other through skills workshops and networking events.
