10 Must Do October Activities in Utah

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Utah chapter.

That inevitable time of the year has come where summer dresses with sunflower shorts are being hung up, and scarves and leggings are your new best friends. With fall here it’s time to tuck away your summer bucket list and bust out a new and exciting to-do list for these upcoming months. So for those of you that are in search of fun entertainment this color changing season, here are a few exciting ideas.

1.  Lagoon’s Frightmares

You might have already taken a trip to the popular recreation park this summer, but fall time at lagoon is a must have experience! It’s all Halloween themed and they offer tons of autumn activities for all ages, from haunted houses to pumpkin carving.

2. Thanksgiving Point

A well-known fall tradition in Utah is taking a trip over to Lehi’s Thanksgiving Point for lots of family fun! With corn mazes and Ferris wheels, Thanksgiving Point is also a good idea for a date night.

3. Pumpkin Picking and Carving

Okay this is a pretty obvious one that you can never be too old for. Take some time this fall to carve pumpkins with family or friends!

4. Enjoying the Fall Colors

One of my favorite things to do during the fall time is take a walk or drive up Cottonwood Canyon and see all the beautiful changing colors. There’s nothing like autumn in Utah so take advantage of the breathtaking scenery surrounding us!

5. Oktoberfest

A hot commodity during the fall, Oktoberfest is a must have on your bucket list this month. Taste the varieties of beer and enjoy local bands at Snowbird resort with friends and family.

6. Halloween Movie Marathon

Take some time to watch a couple of your favorite movies these upcoming months and relive some of your childhood memories with some Halloween Town!

7. College Football

Rain or sunshine, the best time of the year is here with college football every weekend. Get your Utes attire on and tailgate with the rest of your fellow muss students on game day!

8. Gardner Village Witchfest

One of my all time favorite activities to do every year is take a trip to Gardner Village’s annual Witchfest. Nothing feels more like fall to me than drinking some hot cocoa while walking around the witch festival with my best friends.

9. Haunted Houses

Another must do this October is taking a trip to Nightmare on the 13th with a big group of friends. One that I heard is really good also is the Haunted Asylum up in Toeele city.

10. Fall Shopping

Lastly you can’t do all these events while being dressed poorly so go out and treat yourself to new fall clothes for the cold weather!
