One day while on Twitter, I noticed that a few of my editors were participating in a Twitter conversation. It was an open discussion about using resources as a journalist. I was really intrigued, so I clicked on the hashtag. When I clicked on the hashtag, it exposed me to a whole new world: Twitter Chats.
A Twitter Chat is a live Twitter event where participants are given anywhere from five to ten questions to answer. In order to answer the questions the participants must use A# (# stands for the question number) and they have to use the appropriate hashtag. Twitter Chats usually have a moderator or guest host who help guide participants through the process. The moderator is the person who sets the time of the chat, curates the topic, and selects the questions. Before starting a Twitter Chat, participants are asked to introduce themselves.

Editor Therapy is an one hour chat that happens on Wednesday nights at 10 p.m. While that chat is mainly for student editors, all journalism students are always welcome. Some of the different topics talked about include personal branding, getting the respect of the campus community, and sources. The chat is a great outlet for student journalists to chat with other editors around the globe. It’s a great place to get new ideas for a college media outlet. It’s also a fun way to network with other editors and see how other journalism departments operate.
#LeadWithGiants
Lead with Giants is a chat that happens on Monday nights at 7 p.m. This is a great chat for anyone studying leadership. The chat focuses on different issues every leader must face, sometimes the chats are just to help provide tips for improving your leadership. I found this chat while in my night class and instantly fell in love. Some of the more recent topics have been about proper communication as a leader and leading with an ego. I love this chat because it gives me tips and trick on how to improve my leadership before going into the real world.
#TheStumbleIsReal
The Stumble is Real is a chat that focuses on college women. It all about encouraging women to follow their dreams and to actively pursue the life they want. This chat happens on Monday nights at 10:00 p.m. I love this chat because it gives me the chance to help uplift other college students who are currently lacking motivation.
