Just a Love Story about a Girl and a Shoe

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at USFSP chapter.
Many girls know that they need another pair of shoes like they need a hole in their head, but this doesn’t stop the indescribable feeling you get when you know that you have met “The one.”

About  two weeks ago, I was on a Ross date with my boyfriend. This is a usual date spot for us because Ross really does have something for everyone. And their prices? Forget about it. Everything is discounted which makes most things affordable for two college students.

Normally, we split off with him going to the electronics section and me going to the shoe section, naturally. However, this particular trip was a little different. He came with me into the rows and rows of stocked shoe shelves. That’s when I saw them; a pair of black crushed velvet Michael Kors slip-on shoes. They even had the little “MK” in silver on the top of the shoes. I’m not always into name brands just for the sake of being able to flaunt them around, but there was something about these shoes that I couldn’t let go of.

Unfortunately however, the price was $49.99. That is just too high for my Ross budget and I couldn’t bring myself to spend that much money on a pair of shoes. So as difficult as it was, I had to walk away from those beautiful shoes. It also helped that my boyfriend was freaking out about me even thinking about spending that much money on shoes.

The shoes haunted me in my dreams. They were just so perfect! They would work so well in the fall and winter seasons when it is too cold for sandals. The black color would look impeccable with everything in my closet. I had to have these shoes.

Fast forward to this past weekend. We decided to go back to Ross and I knew it wasn’t going to be easy. More than likely, the loves of my life were already sold and gone forever. When I walked in, I saw them. It was a shopping miracle. I rush over and as I pick one of the shoes up and I realized it was a size six which is half a size too small! What was this cruel world trying to doing to me?! To make matters worse, the shoes were on sale for $29.99.
Just as I was about to give up and walk out, I spotted something out of the corner of my eye. On the floor in a pile of shoes was one of the Michael Kors shoes I had been obsessing over. As I pick it up, I see that it is a size 6 ½! After doing a quick search, I find the other shoe and I breathe a sigh of relief. I was so excited!

Needless to say, I have worn those shoes for the past four days without fail and I have gotten so many compliments on them. It was just meant to be!
