Halo Top – My Heart MELTS For You

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at USFSP chapter.

“Ugh, I was doing SO well,” I mutter to myself as I saunter down the ice cream aisle at Publix. I had been trying to eat relatively healthy this past week, but my sweet tooth got the best of me. “I just want an ice cream that doesn’t make me feel guilty.” That’s when I found it: Halo Top.

Halo Top is truly the best thing ever created. The light ice cream is perfect for when you have an intense craving for sugar, but don’t want to ruin all the gains you’ve made. All the Halo Top pints contain less than 400 hundred calories. That is very low compared to the 1,000 calories you can consume from one pint of Hȁagen Daaz.

Even though I am a huge Halo Top fan… there are certain flavors I enjoy more than others.

Don’t worry though,  I will help you navigate the best and worst of Halo Top. I will rate the flavors I’ve tried and hopefully that will help you when you find yourself in the ice cream aisle late in the evening.

Alright, here we go.

1.) Cookies & Cream:

Hope’s Rating: B+

Okay, this one is really good. Not as creamy as your average cookies and cream, but definitely enjoyable. I would let it sit out for ten minutes before eating. These light ice creams tend to be a lot denser.

2.) Cookie Dough:

Hope’s rating: A-

Ugh. I love cookie dough ice cream. It is truly wonderful – Halo Top’s version of cookie dough included. The reason the pint doesn’t get an A+  is because Halo Top went a little light in the amount of cookie dough pieces they put in the pint. (But then again, it is light ice cream.)

3.) Oatmeal Cookie:

Hope’s Rating: C-

If you like oatmeal cookies, you might possibly like this flavor. If you don’t like oatmeal cookies, avoid this flavor at all costs. It was very disappointing. I threw this pint away after two bites.

4.) Mocha Chocolate Chip:

Hope’s Rating: A+

I LOVE this flavor. It tastes so good, you wouldn’t even know it was considered “light ice cream.” The only problem with this ice cream is that I can never seem to find it. My local Publix doesn’t carry it! But I did find it at a Walmart supermarket. It is the best.

Alright babes, that was my small review of a few of the Halo Top’s I have tried.

All in all, I recommend it 100%. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Ben & Jerry’s, but I feel too guilty eating the whole pint.

With Halo Top, you can eat the whole pint for under 400 calories. It’s a no brainer.
