It seems that what most people can agree on is that they want to find something they love; something they can use to bring a positive impact. For Krista Evans, that is being able to tell stories through her passion for photography. Evans is a Mass Comm and Journalism major who just transferred from Pasco Hernando State College this past semester. Â Â

“I’ve always been into photography with my phone camera,” Evans continued, “And then I always loved taking pictures and capturing what I see.”
Â
Evans’ vision shows in the little things:Â As she walks with her friends and Canon camera in downtown St. Pete, she stops mid-sentence to capture a moment of a pitbull and its owner. With over 10,000 photos under her belt, she has photographed a variety of subjects. Her favorite subjects to shoot are portraits and sceneries.
Â
“I feel like a lot of people think they’re photographers because cameras on phones have abilities to do so. And people that book shoots take it serious and some don’t. It’s 50/50,” Krista said.
Â
She has created a photography account on Facebook, where she reveals people and places she has shot similar to Brandon Stanton’s Humans of New York pieces.
Â
“Don’t be afraid to pick up a camera even if it’s not the best camera. And shoot what you love even if it’s a piece of lint on the floor. Present it with confidence,” Evans continued, “Because I struggled with that… You’re only going to stunt yourself if you do that.”
Â
Shooting since high school and creating a brand for herself, companies and people such as Barbas & Zacari Eyewear have reached out to her. Evans has mastered her work with practice, hard work, and passion throughout the years. She hopes to continue this for a very long time.
Â
“I find beauty in everything and the feeling when I finish a photoshoot is like christmas morning because I just finish this present that I get to unwrap, then I get to give it to someone else,” Evans continued, “It’s an awesome feeling especially when they turn out how you envisioned it. You get to really capture what you see.”
