Like most other people, I was snuggled up with my bowl of popcorn on Sunday anxiously waiting for the Golden Globes to start. Every year there are some really impressive fashion choices and some fashion flops, and this year was certainly no exception. It seemed like this year most of the celebrities at the Golden Globes were trying to push the envelope with their fashion statements and it seemed like some failed miserably while others triumphed.
Olivia Wilde – Hit!
Olivia Wilde really took it out of the park with this look. She seriously looks like some kind of fabulous mermaid goddess. The stretchy seafoam sequined bodice perfectly shapes her pregnant belly and she really does it right by choosing a higher neckline and longer sleeve length. Everything about this dress was appropriate for the event and her blossoming belly.
Drew Barrymore – Miss!
Drew Barrymore however, did not pull off the pregnant dress look as elegantly as Olivia Wilde did. This particular dress does not flatter her body and this dress makes her look more like a child than a grown woman who is expecting. I can understand that she was going for a more playful look with this outfit, but I don’t think that assorted color petal appliqués was the right way to pull it off.
Emma Roberts – Hit!
Emma Roberts has gone for the understated elegance with this solid black ensemble. Recently engaged, she is looking really sophisticated with her off the shoulder straps and fitted bodice with a mermaid flair at the bottom. The structured dress shows off her best assets without showing off too much cleavage. Her hair isn’t overly dramatic and she finishes off her look with a pop of color with her earrings choice.
Jennifer Lawrence – Miss!
Jennifer Lawrence was the butt of everyone’s jokes online with her ensemble at the Golden Globes the other night. Everyone from teenage boys to dogs were trying to recreate this dress with various household items. However, jokes aside, it wasn’t a very good fashion choice on Jennifer’s side. It certainly does not flatter her body and she could have gone so much more daring to match her new haircut. She has an empire waistline as well as a drop waist being defined which wouldn’t look good on anyone. It seemed like nothing about this look worked together very well at all sorry J. Law.
