Homeade Apple Cider

It’s about that time of year again! The weather is getting colder, and the drinks are getting hotter.  So if you are like me, spending time outdoors with a hot seasonal beverage is the perfect thing to do, and what better beverage to drink than your very own homeade apple cider.  I found this recipe online a while ago and always wanted to try it and I must say it is very good.

What you need:
10 apples
1 cup of sugar
4 sticks of cinnamon
a tablespoons of allspice

Directions:
1. Slice apples into quarters, leave the skin on.
2. In a very large pot, add apples and fill pot with enough water to cover the apples completely.
3. Add the sugar.
4. wrap the cinnamon sticks and allspice in a cheesecloth (this can be found at most grocery stores) and tie them up and place in the pot.
5. Boil on high for an hour uncovered.
6. Turn heat down tolow/ medium and cover for two hours.
7. Turn heat off and let cool.
8. Remove cheesecloth bag of allspice and cinnamon and mash apples up to a pulp with a potato masher.
9. Strain juice from the pulp.
10. Gather the excess pulp and put in the cheesecloth and strain until all juice is extracted.

Voila! You’ve made cider! Now all you need is a mug to heat the cider back up and you are ready to enjoy your very own homeade apple cider.
