I recently went about a month without doing laundry (grad classes, work, studying, lots of work, Bravo, more work, etc.). I managed to pick up a few style life hacks during those long morning minutes spent staring at my closet, waiting for brand new designer duds to appear (spoiler alert: they never did).

Snazz it up with accessories

When you’re down to that last pair of non-descript denim jeans and that last really boring white T-shirt, wrap a string of costume-jewelry pearls around your neck or stack on some bangles to create a little interest in an otherwise lackluster outfit.

Embrace the citrus

I’m a beige-on-beige kind of girl, but with my trusty favorites balled up at the bottom of a laundry basket for four weeks, I gave yellow-on-orange a try. I added a pair of boat shoes and a kicky pony tail, and my random wardrobe extras actually looked like an outfit.

Belt it out

I bought a plaid, short-sleeved button down from Forever 21 a few months ago and fell prey to the classic fitting room haze. The cute, subtle waist-defining top I tried on in the store was suddenly baggy and awkward in front of my mirror at home. The post-laundry day solution? Stick a belt around it. Look, I’ve got a waist. Done and done.
