‘Tis the season for college applications, a process I remember only too well. After all, it was a mere two years ago that I myself was frantically compiling my college list, reviewing essays, and fudging (just a bit) an impressively long list of extracurriculars. There’s no doubt that it’s an extremely stressful process – here I was, barely eighteen years old, and I was being asked to make a choice that would determine the rest of my future. I made a lot of missteps along the way, but looking back, I wouldn’t change a thing. While I love my hometown, USF is home – and there’s no place I’d rather be. This is why I chose USF, and it could be why you do, too!

1. It’s small, but the community is strong. USF is relatively small and tight-knit; I knew I wanted a smaller school, because I didn’t want to be lost in the sea of students like at a larger state school. If you’re planning on skipping out on class, think again! On the flip side, professors are accessible, which is great when it’s midterm season and you’re trying to squeeze into office hours.

2. Opportunities! USF has an amazingly supportive academic and career network. Since San Francisco is located near Silicon Valley, there’s no shortage of internships, startup or otherwise. The career center is chock-full of resources for the budding professional, from professional LinkedIn headshots to resume-polishing and mock interviews.

3. It’s one of the most inclusive and diverse universities. One of the best things about USF is the accepting community; there’s something for everyone.

4. San Francisco itself! USF boasts some of the most beautiful views in the city – and is any city more incredible than SF? One thing USF students can never complain about is boredom; there’s always something to do, places to go, and people to meet. A trip to the Golden Gate Bridge, a relaxing evening in Dolores Park, a picnic in the Presidio – any person, with any interest, is sure to find something to their liking in San Fransisco!
