It’s the end of the semester and finals have you feeling frazzled, but have no fear, Her Campus is here to give you the scoop on three great ways to kickstart the new year!

Out With the Old in With the New
At the start of a new year, we go through our wardrobs and get ride of all the clothes we question why we ever bought. Instead of tossing last year’s leftovers to your gal pals or Goodwill, exchange it for NEW wardrobe.

1. At Buffalo Exchange, you simply exchange your clothes for someone else’s or for cash payment. Yes, we repeat – cash payment. 80% of their clothing is bought directly from customers and includes all types of inventory ranging from vintage to designer labels to current basics. Have no fear, most items average $15!
Located: 1555 Haight Street
(between Clayton & Ashbury)
We are conveniently located only a couple blocks down from Haight Street so be sure to check out other second hand stores such as Crossroads and Wasteland. Make a hefty chunk of change or exchange it for a new look!

2. There’s also the option of hosting a clothes trading party and invite all your friends to come over for a night of food, fun, and  swapping outfits. Decide on a date and invite all the friend’s whose style you want to steal! You might want to include a reminder to bring clothes that are in good condition and make sure to  wash and dry them prior to clothes swap. We recommend that you create a minimum number of items to bring as well as a list of restricted items to avoid getting stuck with stuff you don’t need. First designate a dressing room area  and a few racks labeled cheap, midprice, and expensive and voila, you’ve created your own in-home outlet. Now crank up Right Said Fred’s “I’m Too Sexy” and work the catwalk, baby!

If you have any “leftovers”, donate them to your charity of choice!

3. Try researching some Do-It-Yourself projects, little do we know, there are a ton of ways to transform a tee shirt from basic to glam with the help of a little crafting. Just watch a Youtube tutorial or check out a DIY blog!

Check out the “Perfect Party Pumps” for an easy way to accentuate an outfit for a holiday party or the “Denim Scarf Pocket” for a fun twist on a winter classic.

Coming across Her Campus as a senior in high school and then leading her very own branch, Emily proudly calls herself the co-president and editor-in-chief of Her Campus University of San Francisco. While Emily has a guilty addiction to shopping, celebrities, and all things "girly" she hopes that she can integrate this into a relatable magazine to the women of her campus. Emily has a slight infatuation for John Krasinski and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. When she's not day dreaming about her future husbands, Emily is participating in many extra curricular activities such as her sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta. Emily enjoys good company, good FOOD, and a good ole' television. One of the most recent television series Emily has become a fan of is ABC's Pan Am. If only Pan Am continued to exist, Emily would have seriously considered becoming a stewardess. The success of the branch has yet to blossom. Emily hopes that she can bring Her Campus University of San Francisco to its full potential. In the future, Emily plans studying abroad all over the European continent and pursue her passion of social justice through fashion.
