TWLOHA USF: Lyrics and Conversation Recap

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at USF chapter.

The University of South Florida’s To Write Love On Her Arms chapter held their Lyrics and Conversation event on November 16, inviting local bands and speakers to perform for a common cause. The USF chapter supports the To Write Love On Her Arm organization and its mission.

TWLOHA is a nonprofit organization focused on bringing awareness to people struggling with depression, anxiety, self-harm, addiction and suicide. The movement hopes to spread news of these concerns and speak out to help find a cure.

Despite the chilly night, students and guests gathered to listen to bands and spoken word artists from within the area. Kicking off the night was Tarek Kasmi who brought his cool, rock music to our ears. Soon after, Amare took the stage, bringing the crowd to their feet. The show slowed down for spoken word artists, Liz and Kyle. Liz took the stage first and was followed by Kyle. Both had the audience hanging on to their every word. The music started back up with another local band, Malaya. They captivated the crowd with their upbeat sound and had them on their feet once again. Closing the show was Carlisle, who engaged the audience with their catchy songs.

In the end, everyone was there for one purpose: Supporting the TWLOHA organization.
