TV TUESDAY: Ravenswood

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at USF chapter.

“Pretty Little Liar”’s spinoff TV series “Ravenswood” is set to premiere tonight, Oct. 22, at 9 p.m. on ABC Family, just in time for the Halloween season. Are you as excited as I am? I hope so.

Here’s a rundown to moments before the Ravenswood spinoff beings:

In PLL’s season 4 ep. 13 “Grave New World,” (which also airs tonight) Emily, Hanna, Spencer and Aria are in Ravenswood, along with Erza and Caleb. There they find some clues about Alison in “A’s” lair and Caleb meets a girl named Miranda. We also get to meet mysterious Carla Grunwald, a former sorority mother at Ravenswood’s Cicero College. In this episode, Caleb decides to stay in Ravenswood for a while, which leads to the premiere of the new TV series.

The synopsis for “Ravenswood” illustrates that Caleb’s transition from Rosewood to this town won’t be an easy task:

“After opting to stay in Ravenswood to help out new pal Miranda, Caleb begins to rethink his decision, especially after he meets Miranda’s cold and unwelcoming uncle Raymond. Caleb also has some unpleasant interactions with local resident Luke, who is struggling to deal with a recent family tragedy and its ensuing scandal, which also swept up his twin sister Olivia. Unnerved by what they witnessed the night of the party, and besieged by strange and supernatural occurrences, Caleb and Miranda begin to investigate this bizarre town. Their first ally in Ravenswood teen Remy, who has a keen insight to the town’s peculiar history, has started connecting some troublesome dots. These five teens have no idea how connected their lives are and the plans that Ravenswood has in store for them.”

Talk about killer suspense! Being that this series is written by the same creative team as PLL, we are sure to get some serious mystery. I’d encourage you to tune into PLL at 8 p.m. for “Grave New World” followed by “Ravenswood” premiere at 9 p.m. Cross your fingers for an awesome outcome!
