This week’s Campus Cutie is Tina Fetalvo. The 19-year-old sophomore is the epitome of a sweetheart. She is the affirmed “girl with the cute voice.” Undeniably, her cute voice and calm sense of style will melt your heart as it did mine during our interview.
The pre-nursing major loves hanging out with friends, completing DIY projects and watching movies. Like many people, Fetalvo also loves to sing, but unlike many, she is actually good at it.
“Ariana Grande is my inspiration,” Fetalvo said.
Fetalvo enjoys all types of music, but only tolerates country. Alternative music is her preferred genre, but the British boy band One Direction has recently become a favorite for Fetalvo.
“I love One Direction,” Fetalvo said. “They have a Mumford & Sons kind of feel right now. “
When Fetalvo is not singing and listening to music, she dances to it. Fetalvo delights in feeling the beat as she dances on a hip-hop dance team affiliated with the Association of Filipino Students at USF.
As cool as Fetalvo appears, Fetalvo has an inner nerd side to her as well. “I know everything about the original Power Rangers,” Fetalvo said. “I like the pink power ranger the most.”
Fetalvo’s favorite book is “The Giver” by Lois Lowry. “I’ve read it three times,” she said. Fetalvo expressed excitement for the book’s film adaption coming out in theaters this year.
The sweetheart also has an affinity for children with an admitted smidge of jealously intertwined. “I just really like kids,” said Fetalvo.” “They have that sense of innocence and happiness.”
Because of her passion for children, Fetalvo plans to become a nurse practitioner with a specialization in pediatrics in the future. While she works toward becoming a nurse, Fetalvo volunteers at St. Josephs Children Hospital in Tampa.
For 2014, Fetalvo has her sights on making A’s in her classes and “being fit and healthier.”
Her advice to fellow college students is as sweet as her personality is. Fetalvo says,“Try not to stress too much.”
